SECOND DAY OF STRATEGIC PLANNING AND POLICY REVIEW

The Division of Planning Research and Innovation has organized a workshop at Kitale Sports Club to carry out Strategic Planning and Policy Review. On  22nd June 2021, the participants were taken through the divisional targets of  the University and the status of implementation of the Divisional policies among other critical aspects of Policy development and review. 

According to DVC PRI, Prof. Judith Achoka the University has attained over fifty percent of implementing of the University Strategic Plan except for a few areas that require improvement.

The Strategic Planning and Policy Review Workshop is still ongoing and will end on 23^rd June 2021.

“Healthy eating and adequate dietary intake are essential to protect against an excessive inflammatory response to Covid 19 infection,” this is according to the MMUST’s reputable Professor of Nutrition, Prof. Asenath Sigot. Prof. Sigot made an illuminating presentation on ‘Healthy Eating and Dietary Guidelines for Proper Nutrition during COVID-19 Pandemic’ during the 2021 Kenya DAAD Scholars Virtual Conference themed ‘Mitigating the impact of Covid 19 and future pandemics: Role of Academia’. Covid-19 pandemic has spread rapidly and extensively around the world since late 2019. This has had profound implications for Nutrition and Food Security around the globe.

MMUST’S LEADERSHIP SENSITIZATION ON RESEARCH GRANTS MANAGEMENT KICKS OFF IN KITALE

MMUST Leadership Sensitization on Research Grants Management organized by the Directorate of Research and Post-graduate Support successfully kicked off on 16th June 2021 at Kitale Sports Club.. The informative workshop was officially opened by the Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Solomon Shibairo. Other notable University managers present during the opening included DVC PRI Prof. Judith Achoka and Director, Research and Post-graduate Support, Prof. Peter Bukhala.

THE KDSA CONFERENCE HITS CLIMAX AS IT ENTERS THE THIRD DAY

The 2021 Kenya DAAD Scholars Virtual Conference today marked its climax with illuminating presentations from various scholars addressing the day’s Sub-theme; Untapped potentials in Humanities and Social Sciences in dealing with Covid 19 and future pandemics.

MMUST’S PARTNERSHIP WITH COUNTY GOVERNMENT OF KAKAMEGA AND COUNTY COMMISSIONER’S OFFICE LEAP-FROG’S REGION’S CONSERVATION AGENDA

MMUST, the County Government of Kakamega and the County Commissioner’s office have jointly started off an ambitious tree planting and conservation initiative that is set to completely transform the region’s forest cover and entire ecosystem. This grand Community Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative is one of the batch of initiatives and projects that the coalition will focus on in a bid to foster positive change in the County.

THE 2021 KENYA DAAD SCHOLARS VIRTUAL CONFERENCE SUCCESSFULLY KICKS OFF!

The 2021 Kenya DAAD Scholars Virtual Conference successfully kicked off on 15th June 2021 hosted in MMUST. The conference was officially opened by the Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Solomon Shibairo. Other members of the University Management Board present during the opening included DVC A&F Prof. Charles Mutai, DVC PRI Prof. Judith Achoka and immediate former Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Asenath Sigot.

The conference themed ‘Mitigating the impact of Covid 19 and future pandemics: Role of Academia’ will be ongoing until Friday, 18th June 2021. Today’s presentations were on the Sub-theme Food Security, Nutrition and Covid-19.

MMUST RESEARCH WORKSHOP REVEALS TREMENDOUS RISE IN UPTAKE OF ONLINE TEACHING AND LEARNING IN KENYAN UNIVERSITIES

A team of researchers from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology have established that the uptake of Online Teaching and Learning (OTL’s) methods have tremendously escalated and completely transformed teaching and learning in both private and public Universities in Kenya. The research workshop themed ‘The uptake of the online teaching and learning methods in Kenyan Public and Private Universities in response to Covid 19’ was held yesterday 14th June 2021 at the Kakamega Sports Club.

CO-OPERATIVE BANK DONATES KSHS. 50,000 TO MMUST

The Co-operative Bank of Kenya has donated Kshs. Fifty Thousand (50,000) to Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology to support the prizes and awards for the best student in the forthcoming graduation ceremony.
The money was handed over to the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Solomon Shibairo, by the Bank’s Kakamega branch Manager, Mr. Victor Wanjala. Present during the handing over was the Chairman Prizes and Awards Sub-committee, Mr. Dishon Wanjere.
