MMUST’s Prof. Robert Egessa Selected To Moderate At SRC’s National Productivity And Performance Conference 2026!!

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology’s Prof. Robert K. W. Egessa was selected as a panelist and moderator at the just-concluded National Productivity and Performance Conference 2026. The Conference, which took place from 17th to 19th June, 2026 at the Kenya School of Government-Nairobi, was graced by the President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E Dr. William Samoei Ruto, and officially opened by the Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service, Mr. Felix K. Koskei, EGH. It was convened by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC), in conjunction with the Executive Office of the President (EOP), the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC), the State Corporations Advisory Committee (SCAC), the Public Service Commission (PSC), and the Council of Governors (COG).

The high-level convention, themed ‘Productivity for Fiscal Sustainability and Efficient Service Delivery,’ provided a platform for national dialogue on improving productivity to optimize public resources, increase accountability and enhance service delivery in Kenya. The deliberations yielded policy recommendations that will shape human resource productivity and public sector performance in light of the Government’s pursuit of national development priorities amidst a fiscal sustainability framework.

Prof. Egessa moderated Plenary Session 4, titled ‘Wage Determination and Management for a High-Performing Public Service: Linking Compensation to Productivity’ on 18th June, 2026. This session featured speeches and panel discussions by renowned experts, including H.E. Hon. Gladys Wanga (Governor-Homa Bay County), Dr. George Smith-Graham (CEO, FWSC Ghana), Lech Marcinkowski (Senior Policy Advisor, OECD), Wangui Muchiri, HSC (Commissioner, SRC - Local perspective), Mary Wanjira Kimonye, MBS (Vice Chairperson, PSC), and Mohamed Aden Abdi (Commissioner, SRC).

Prof. Egessa is an Associate Professor of Strategic Human Resource Management (HRM) and Corporate Governance, as well as the Director of Career Services at MMUST. His selection as a moderator at such a Conference highlights his expertise in governance and human resources, while underscoring MMUST’s growing influence in shaping national public sector discourse through research, scholarship and public engagement.
