Dr. Lucy Mandillah
Deputy Director
Welcome to the Institute of Indigenous Knowledge, Cultural Studies, and Climate Change (IIKCC), a platform dedicated to advancing indigenous knowledge, promoting cultural understanding, and fostering sustainable responses to climate change.
As Deputy Director, I am honoured to contribute to an institute that recognizes the importance of indigenous knowledge in addressing contemporary societal and environmental challenges. Our communities possess valuable knowledge, practices, and cultural traditions that offer important insights into biodiversity conservation, natural resource management, and climate resilience.
At IIKCC, we are committed to strengthening research, documentation, and the intergenerational transmission of indigenous knowledge. Through collaboration with local communities, researchers, cultural practitioners, and development partners, we seek to ensure that indigenous perspectives are meaningfully integrated into education, policy, and sustainable development initiatives.
We also recognize the need to create opportunities for young people to learn from cultural custodians while contributing fresh ideas and innovative approaches to preserving our heritage. By fostering dialogue between indigenous knowledge holders and scientific communities, we aim to promote inclusive, evidence-based solutions that respond to the needs of present and future generations.
I invite students, researchers, communities, and partners to engage with IIKCC in advancing our shared mission. Together, we can preserve our cultural heritage, strengthen community resilience, and promote a sustainable future in which indigenous knowledge continues to inform positive change.
